Born in New York City, Martha Friendly was a social science researcher and started working in early childhood education and childcare research in late 1960s. She immigrated to Canada in 1971 and was part of the grassroots childcare movement growing in Toronto in 1970s. Host Debra Davis talks to Martha about her story and the movement to bring day care to Canadian families. This episode is produced by The Women’s History Project.
