When I was Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Provincial Judges I met with Minister Campbell to discuss our budget and our plans for judicial education. I had just dined with many of the federally-appointed women judges in Ontario and recently-retired Bertha Wilson. I communicated to the Minister the plea to appoint more women to the bench. At that time, there were 3 women of 22 in the Ontario Court of Appeal and 31 women of about 220 in the Ontario Court of Justice (General Division) now called the Superior Court of Justice. The minister reposted: "Get women lawyers to apply!". As shown in my EBook & Appendices, "Women Judges of Ontario 1920 to 1990" we have come a long way at both the federal & provincial levels.
